Lisa Smith – President & CEO at The Staff Room
Lisa began her career in 1996, delivering front line support to organizations in all areas of human resources, including policy and program development, talent management, performance management, recruitment & selection, and employee relations. Lisa has developed direct experience in a range of industries including software development, information technology, power, utilities and manufacturing. Firms such as Symantec, Intek Communications, Keating Technologies, Cara Foods and Robert Half.
As a baccalaureate in Human Resources Management from Centennial College where Lisa went on to also complete her post-graduate in 2010, also from Centennial College, Lisa has also successfully completed courses at York University and holds her certificate in Canadian Payroll. Lisa worked guiding and advising potential students at Centennial College while completing her post grad. Lisa has successfully taken other Human Resources Management courses such as Employment and Labour Law.
Lisa has spoken on many panels including Centennial College, TriOs College and Pathway To Success for newcomers. Lisa has been the key guest speaking for WMRCC. Speaking on many topics including what is takes to achieve gainful employment within Canada. Lisa has been a guest on television shows such as Rogers TV. Lisa and her team have also developed various courses for those that are in need of further information in such areas as Human Resources and Entrepreneurship.
Lisa was nominated in 2015 for Rising Star of the year and featured in HRD Magazine, and in 2016 was one of 9 finalist for HR Advisor/Consultancy of the year for all of Canada out of over 35,0000 HR professionals.
Nicole Andrews - President & Founder of Interconnection Research International Ltd. (IRI Inc.)
Nicole Andrews, President and Founder of Interconnection Research International Ltd. (IRI Inc.), brings the strategic focus, vision and mature judgement grained during a successful career guiding the creation and implementation of hundreds of training/development programs, HR enhancements, and business advisory services to generate sustained positive results. Leveraging diverse financial, business optimization and accounting expertise to a variety of entrepreneurial, training and marketing-making businesses, Nicole’s experience has enabled her to significantly impact the profitability and growth objectives for organizations and individuals. In addition to business advisory and development, IRI Inc. has sponsored and coordinated Youth Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment Readiness Programs in the GTA area since 2005/2006 with great success rates.
Prior to starting IRI Inc., Nicole built a private vocational college from a green field site – ultimately taking the position of Dean. The private institution was very successful in capturing training programs with Human Resources Development Canada (2 million in its first year), as well as promoting small business workshops for local businesses and regular Diploma programming.
Among significant previous positions, Nicole served as the Chief Executive Officer of a Community Industrial Training Committee (CITC), coordinating over 125 programs annually. She was responsible for not only the design and delivery of programs – but the financial management of federal and provincial funding of upwards of half a million dollars annually.
Nicole continues to work closely with youth at risk and business by providing training, guidance and business expertise. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Managerial Economics from Lake Superior State University, a Business Administration Diploma, Accounting and Finance, Certified A.M.C.T, Association of Municipal Clerk Treasurers of Ontario.
